Two More CLS Strategies Team Members Recognized for Their Excellence

Meghan Keane and Dan Smith Named To
PR News’ Rising PR Stars 30 and Under List For 2017

When PR News puts out a call for nominations for its annual list of Rising PR Stars 30 and Under, applications come in from all over the country as some of the most accomplished professionals in the field compete for bragging rights. This year, PR News named two CLS Strategies Managing Associates – Meghan Keane and Dan Smith – to the list, showing once again that the firm is home to some of the best and brightest young communicators in the business.

“Success at CLS is a team effort, and we get results by building the best teams full of the most talented professionals anywhere,” said CLS Strategies Partner Juan Cortiñas. “Meghan and Dan have consistently and impressively delivered for their clients, and we’re excited that PR News has recognized their extraordinary accomplishments and skills. These awards are much deserved, and we are proud to have Meghan and Dan as part of the CLS team.”

Meghan’s great work has been hard to keep secret – earlier this year, PRWeek named her an Outstanding Young PR Professional. At CLS, her work spans a range of the firm’s practice areas, including crisis and litigation, public affairs and international. She has counseled several Fortune 500 companies facing litigation and reputational threats around the world; advised political leaders, corporations and international organizations in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Latin America; and helped raise awareness around human rights in Iran. She is a cum laude graduate of Carleton College in Minnesota with a degree in political science/international relations and concentrations in Latin American Studies and Spanish.

Dan is a leader on the firm’s growing and award-winning digital team, where he uses his unique experience in digital communications to create content-focused digital campaigns across mobile, email and social media platforms to reach influencers, improve brand perception and increase membership. Prior to joining CLS Strategies, Dan served as Manager of Digital Media & Communications at the non-profit Institute for Energy Research (IER), where he managed IER’s social media accounts, helped oversee advertising campaigns, assisted with website development and production, drafted opinion pieces for local and national publications and created the organization’s first membership guide. He holds a degree in English from Furman University.

PR News’ announcement is just the latest in a string of recognitions for CLS Strategies staff and the firm’s work. This year, the firm won the PR News Platinum Award for “Website Marketing,” was named a finalist for PR News Social Media Awards for “Best Social Media Team” and received an Honorable Mention award for “Agency Team of the Year” at the PR Elite Agency Awards. Nor is this the first time CLS has seen team members named to a “Best Of” list. Partner Andrew Koneschusky was previously named to PR Week’s 40 and Under list, while Senior Vice President Ray De Lorenzi was named to the PR News Rising PR Stars 30 and Under list in 2015.
